HOW TO COOK GINISANG AMPALAYA WITH EGG -Ampalaya or bitter gourd is a very abundant vegetable in the Philippines. There are many dishes cooked with ampalaya and most of those dishes are sauteed. Pinakbet is one example of dish with ampalaya which is very popular in the country most especially in the Ilocos region in the Northern part of the country. Ginisang ampalaya also has many variations like sauteed with pork, or chicken -these dishes are very common but what we are going to cook this time is sauteed bitter gourd with egg or ginisang ampalaya with itlog. In this recipe, we are going to need not so many ingredients and those ingredients are very easy to find in the market. If you are in a country where bitter gourd is not so easy to find, you can replace the bitter gourd with chayote or papaya because these vegetables are also good to cook using our recipe here. I would like to advice you that if you are going to use a bit mature ampalaya, you should cut it lengthwise then remove the seeds or you can do the same even you are using the young ones. Here is the recipe:



HOW TO COOK GINISANG AMPALAYA WITH EGG

INGREDIENTS
1/2 kilo long bitter gourd (thinly sliced)
2 tablespoon rock salt (for preparing the ampalaya)
6 cloves garlic (minced)
1 red onion (thinly sliced)
4 eggs (whisked)
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
MSG or vetsin (optional)
cooking oil

STEP BY STEP COOKING PROCEDURE AND DIRECTIONS
1. In a large bowl, combine ampalaya with salt. Mix thoroughly for 10 minutes, this process will remove the bitter taste of ampalaya.
2. Rinse with water three times.
3. In a skillet, heat oil. Saute garlic until color turned light brown.
4. Add the onion and saute until turned transparent.
5. Add the ampalaya and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
6. Add the salt and water, simmer for 5 minutes.
7. Add the tomatoes and simmer until the ampalaya is cooked. Add water if necessary. This time you can add the MSG if you want to use some.
8. Add the eggs and stir. Cooking is done when the eggs become solid.
9. And serve.

HOW TO MAKE TORTANG HIPON

HOW TO MAKE TORTANG HIPON -hipon or shrimp is one of the very abundant aquaculture products in the Philippines. There are many kinds of dishes cooked with hipon and  i am going to share with you one of these dishes. Torta is a very common way of cooking in the Philippines and shrimp is one of the ingredients that can be used in making torta. Torta is actually made of eggs and sometimes flour. In this recipe, we are going to use the combination of eggs, flour and shrimp. Ground pepper can also be added to the ingredients to give it more appealing taste. condiment is another key to its great taste. You can either use vinegar or sauce and even catsup can also be used especially when you have kids in your home. Here is the simple recipe:



HOW TO MAKE TORTANG HIPON

INGREDIENTS
1/2 kilo raw shrimp (the smallest kind would be the best)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
cooking oil

for vinegar dip
1 red onions (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 pieces red chili (cut into halves)
1/2 cup vinegar

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE AND DIRECTIONS
1. In a mixing bowl, combine together shrimp, pepper, salt and egg. Mix well.
2. Add the flour and mix. You can add water if the mixture is too dry.
3. In a pan, heat oil. Scoop the mixture and pour in the pan. The amount depends on your preference.
4. Flip the torta when the other side turns light brown and cook until the other side turns light brown. Repeat the process for the remaining mixture.
5. Let cool down a bit.
6. In a small bowl, combine together all the vinegar dip ingredients. Stir until the salt is dissolved.
7. Transfer the torta in a serving plate and serve with vinegar dip.

HOW TO MAKE GYERAN JJIM (RECIPE)

Gyeran Jjim is a steam egg dish that is very popular and traditional in both North and South Korean. This food is very easy to prepare and cook since it is just an egg dish. The ingredients are not even expensive so everyone can make this dish. There are many ways to cook the egg. You can steam it when you cook rice or yo can boil it in a pot. Some people cook the egg in a microwave but the result could not be perfect because the cooking can be uneven so isuggest that yo cook it either steaming or boiling. The Koreans serve this dish with cooked rice and sometimes kimchi and can be eaten in almost every meal. The most common ingredients used in cooking Gyeran Jjim are eggs, green onions, water and salt but in the recipe I am going to share with you requires 6 to make the taste more appealing. Think of any ingredients you like that you think would give the egg a compliment because Gyeran Jjim is not limited to only using ingredients 4 ingredients. We just have to steam the egg because that process is the reason why it is called Jjim since it is actually the Korean term for "steamed". Here is the recipe for Gyeran Jjim:

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 3 servings

Ingredients:
3 eggs, whisked
8 tablespoon water
5 stalks spring onion, chopped
2 small size tomatoes, diced
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup corned beef, or diced hotdogs 

Preparation and step by step cooking procedure for Gyeran Jjim:
1. In a bowl, combine together whisked egg, water, spring onions, tomatoes, salt and corned beef. Mix perfectly.
2. Put the mixture in a microwave-safe tupperware and cover with the lid.
3. Steam the mixture for 10 minutes. If you are going to microwave it, 5 minutes is the time to cook it.
4. Remove from the tupperware and serve with rice while hot.

HOW TO COOK RADISH OMELET (CHAIBO NENG)

How to Cook Radish Omelet (Chaibo Neng) –there are many ways how to make dishes out of eggs and vegetables. Also there are many kinds of omelet I have tried to cook from simple ones using meat to tricky recipes using unusual ingredients. This time, I am going to share with you this Taiwanese Chaibo Neng or what we call Radish Omelet in English. This simple cooking tutorial is not tricky at all. Of course we are going to use eggs because it is not gonna be called by that name if it does not have eggs in it. And also, obviously we are going to use radish that will serve not only as an extender but also to give better taste to it. By using this recipe I am going to share with you, you can come up with better idea or make a new version of yours to share with your friends and relatives. Here is how to cook Radish Omelet (Chaibo Neng):



INGREDIENTS
½ lb salted radish
2 tablespoon oil
4 eggs (whisked)
1 head of garlic (minced)
2 tablespoon green onions (chopped)
Banana ketchup

COOKING PROCEDURE
1. Wash the radish with running water. Drain by squeezing to remove excess water.
2. Chop the radish and squeeze again to make sure the water is barely present in the radish.
3. In a pan, heat oil and saute garlic until golden brown.
4. Add the radish and stir-fry until almost cooked (about 2 minutes.)
5. Remove from the pan and let rest to cool down a bit.
6. In a bowl, combine whisked eggs with the radish, mix well.
7. In the same pan, add oil and heat.
8. Pour the eggs mixture and fry until brownish then flip to cook the other side.
9. Transfer in a serving plate and scatter spring onions.
10. Serve with banana ketchup.

HOW TO COOK FRENCH TOAST



French toast is a dish served as fried egg-coated bread. What I like from this dish is you can cook it anyway you want. But there is one thing you should consider on cooking this dish, you have to coat your bread with egg, that is how to cook French Toast. But many ways came up on how to cook it like adding sugar before frying the bread, scattering sesame seeds after frying. There is one chef I know in Manila that I really like the way how he cooked French Toast. I asked him what was his secret and he told me that it was the sesame seeds. So I came up thinking about how to cook my own version of French toast. This is what I am gonna share with you. How to cook it? Here it is:



INGREDIENTS:

5 loaves of American tasty bread
½ cup of milk
¼ cup olive oil
2 eggs
½ teaspoon groud nutmeg
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon maple syrup




PROCEDURE:

  1. Whisk the egg together with milk, nutmeg, sesame seeds, and maple syrup.
  2. Pour olive oil into the skillet and heat over medium-high heat.
  3. Soak up each loaf of bread in egg mixture by batch.
  4. Put in the skillet and cook each side until golden brown.
  5. And serve with hot coffee or tea.
