How To Cook Knodel –here is another dumpling dish from Aryan
people. This is a traditional dish in Austria. Knodel literally means
‘dumpling’ and it is best serve with toasted bread. Kids love it so it is a
good way for the mothers to have their children eat their food an I bet, kids
would ask for more. This is good for breakfast and a good source of energy so
this not just for the small kids but even for adults because this a breakfast
that would help you do you morning chores since it gives fair amount of
carbohydrates and protein. You are going to need 2 eggs so if you want to make
it a little hearty, just use 3 eggs and remove the yolk. Here is how to cook
Knodel:
Ingredients
1 lb toasted white bread (cut into cubes)
1 small size sweet onion (diced)
2 tbsp fresh parsley (diced)
2 tsp butter
2 eggs (whisked)
1 cup milk
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Cooking Procedure
- In a pan, heat butter over medium heat.
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In the pan, combine oil and parsley, saute until the onions turn light brown.
- Add bread and toss perfectly.
- In a small bowl, combine eggs, salt, pepper and milk. Whisk perfectly.
- Pour the egg mixture to the same pan and mix well.
- Remove from heat and let rest for an hour. Make balls from mixture.
- Put the balls to the baking tray and cover with aluminum foil.
- In a steaming pot, put water. Place the baking tray over the water for steaming.
- Cover the pot and steam for an hour.
- Remove the tray from the pot and let cool.
- Spread butter melts and serve.
