HOW TO MAKE PICKLED ONIONS



Pickled Onions is a very popular food prepared with brine. Some people make it by adding preservatives. The English eat pickled onions alongside with many dishes. There is no difficulty on how to make it because it is very simple and easy. There are many methods how to make it. Others use flavorings, some spices etc. My mom knows 3 ways on how to make pickled onions. She taught me one but I made changes on her recipe and I found my own method how to make it myself. You can make your own version of it too by adding flavorings, or by simply using other variety of onions. Here is my method how to make Pickled Onions.



INGREDIENTS:

2 lbs silverskin onions (peeled)
400g salt
1L of water
400ml vinegar
1 tablespoon of pepper



PROCEDURE:

  1. Make a strong solution by boiling water with salt.
  2. Stir well until salt is dissolved.
  3. Set aside and cool it down.
  4. Soak up the onions into the salt solution for about 24 hours. Make sure all the onions are being soaked.
  5. Remove the onions from the solution and rinse.
  6. Mix the vinegar with pepper.
  7. Put the onions in a sterilized jar.
  8. Pour the vinegar into the jar of onions.
  9. Wait for about two months before using.
