HOW TO COOK PORK SINIGANG
(SINIGANG NA BABOY)



Sinigang is a traditional food in the Philippines. It is served with sour soup, basically with tamarind. Others used guava or calamansi for the sourness of its soup. I learned how to cook Sinigang few months ago and believe me, it is very simple and easy to cook. There are many ways how to cook it. You can even use mango for the souness of the soup. I like the way how my grandmother cooks Sinigang because of the balanced sourness of its soup. But I am stubborn so I tried to find my own way to make my own version of it. Here is how I cook it:



PORK SINIGANG (SINIGANG NA BABOY) RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

½ kg of boneless pork
1 tablespoon of oil
1 clove of garlic (minced)
1 medium size onion (thinly sliced)
1 teaspoon of salt
5g of ginger (thinly sliced)
2 medium size tomatoes (cut into 4 pieces each)
4 cups of water
1/3 cup of calamansi extract
1 cup of string bean (trimmed)



PROCEDURE:

  1. In a skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add garlic, stir fry until light brown.
  3. Add the onion, stir fry until transparent.
  4. Add the ginger, stir fry for about half a minute.
  5. Add the salt and pork, stir for about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the water, simmer until the pork is tender.
  7. Add the string bean, simmer until the bean is cooked.
  8. Add the calamansi extract, simmer for about 5 minutes.
