HOW TO COOK GRUENKOHL (RECIPE)

How To Cook Gruenkohl (Recipe) –this is literally a German term for cooked kale, and this dish is technically prepared with bacon and mustard. In Germany during winter, the Germans enjoy their meals with this delicious cooked kale because it is best to eat while hot and warm. There are many ways to prepare this dish because you can combine with many dishes like sausage and oats or bacon and pork. Also you can use many spices like cloves and pepper and some people use marjoram on their gruenkohl. This dish is one of the best dishes to experiment with because it  is so easy to prepare and you can use numerous kinds of ingredients like for example, for your sausage, you can use bratwurst, frankfurters or replace it with any kinds of ham. Just don’t forget your kale because it wont be a gruenkohl if it does not contain kale. What I am going to share with you is just one of the good recipes I found in the internet so gather your cookingwares and lets do this things. Here is how to cook Gruenkohl (recipe):



Ingredients
16 ounce kale (cleaned and chopped)
1 cup chopped bacon
1 small onion (chopped)
1 tbsp beef bouillon
1 tsp mustard
Pepper to taste
Salt to taste
Any sausage you want

Cooking Procedure
  1. In a pot, bring water to a boil and blanch kale for a minute. Drain.
  2. In a skillet, cook bacon until browned then add onions and saute.
  3. Add the kale and stir-fry for 3 minutes.
  4. Add beef buillon and stir.
  5. Add water just enough to cover it.
  6. Cover the skillet and simmer for half an hour.
  7. Add the mustard, salt, pepper and sausage. Cover and simmer for another half an hour.
  8. Transfer in a serving bowl and serve with baked potatoes.
